Honest comparison
Moonshift vs. Devin
Devin is an autonomous SWE agent that runs in its own VM and takes tasks like a junior engineer. Moonshift turns one prompt into a deployed Next.js app, repo, database, and launch kit.
The short version
Pick Moonshift when
Pick Moonshift when you are starting from a prompt and want a launched product on your Vercel + GitHub + Turso plus a drafted launch kit in roughly eight minutes. The pipeline is tuned for zero-to-deployed.
Pick Devin when
Pick Devin when you have an existing engineering workflow and want to hand off tickets (bug fixes, refactors, small features) to an autonomous agent that runs in its own VM. Devin 2.0 (May 2026) dropped the entry price from $500 to $20/month + $2.25 per ACU, which made it accessible to indie operators for the first time.
Devin is a junior engineer on demand for an existing codebase. Moonshift is a one-shot pipeline from idea to launched product. Different categories; many teams use both.

Questions
Did Devin really drop from $500 to $20?+
Yes. Devin 2.0 launched in May 2026 and Cognition cut the Core tier from $500/month flat to $20/month + $2.25 per ACU. Cognition publicly framed this as opening Devin to indie operators and individual engineers who could not justify the previous $500 floor.
What is an ACU?+
An Agent Compute Unit. One ACU is roughly 15 minutes of active Devin work (VM time, model inference, network). Most tasks run 1-4 ACUs; complex refactors can run 8+. On Core ($20), ACUs are $2.25 each.
Should I use Devin if I already use Moonshift?+
Possibly. Moonshift ships the product from zero. Devin is best as a junior engineer that takes ongoing tickets on the codebase you already have. Many builders ship with Moonshift on day one and route follow-on work through Devin or Codex.
Can Devin generate a launch kit?+
Not natively. Devin is a code-focused agent; the marketing/copywriting workflow is outside its specialty. Moonshift's marketer agent drafts a 5-tweet X thread and long-form LinkedIn post during the build.
Is Devin Enterprise overkill for my team?+
If you need VPC deployment, SAML SSO, advanced admin, and teamspace isolation, the Enterprise tier exists for a reason. For most teams under 20 engineers, Team ($500/mo with 250 ACUs) is the right entry. For solo operators, Core ($20) is the new default since Devin 2.0.
